ABOUT

Robin has been professionally sculpting since 2010 having attended Jacob Kramer College

of Art in Leeds in the early 1980’s and following a long career in furniture design/making and

architectural services. He works from a home studio in the beautiful market town of Hexham, Northumberland.

Robin prefers to make each sculpture as a true original by hand building each piece, no

matter how small, rather than casting. He sculpts in a wide variety of materials including high content bronze epoxy resin and ink tinted metal/silverleaf in various finishes – all formed over an internal armature/skeleton making each piece unique, with every layer built up enabling the execution of finer detail. He uses locally sourced and upcycled materials

wherever possible including hardwoods, heather and locally hand quarried sandstone.

Much of Robin’s inspiration is attributed to a connection and respect with the rural

environment. His subject matter reveals his love of nature and features birds and animals.

He places emphasis on movement, expression, postures and mannerisms. The dynamic

surface finishes add to his distinctive style. Robin’s work is well known for often being quirky

and humorous.

Robin’s work is sold through several galleries in the UK and California, with commissions

undertaken all over the world. His work has also been represented at exhibitions including:

Affordable Art Fair Battersea, Affordable Art Fair Hampstead, Manchester Art Fair, Art

Source Dublin, Fresh Art Ascot, Fresh Art Cheltenham, Glasgow Contemporary Art Fair,

ICAF - International Community Arts Festival Rotterdam, Borders Art Fair and Edinburgh Art Fair.

Robin also works to commission so if you have an idea for something unique and particular for you or as a gift, please get in touch.
